Fabulous 21

Twenty one. An age number every adolescences dream of. Then we turn 22 and then we're like meh LOL.
I swear this year flew past so quickly because I was just in Europe, casually bringing up my birthday celebration. Then I was in uni, verbally inviting my friends. Then I made my birthday event on FB a month ago, and all of a sudden I have 15 million people in my house (not literally).
I have to say I got so very excited for my party that I started preparing for things 2 weeks before! Call me crazy but my dress was planned 6 months ago. I know, I am very organised, thanks!

 Presenting the b'day queen, tysm.

Hero of the night. Without him saying "don't panic" I would have died from running around the house like a featherless chicken.

Little chicken of the house. Already surpassing my height.

HOW FRICKEN CUTE IS THIS PHOTO OF ME AND MY UNI FAM? My lovelies.

Cloudia and Amelia (spot her).

 DARRREEEENNNNNNN

Here we have Kes Kes & Jess Jess
That's Magnum feeling awkward and shy and nervous when doing his speech.

Then there's my bootiful Emily doing her speech <3
Then there's me feeling shy about giving my speech (later on screaming at everyone, again)

Carys giving her heart warming speech to me (Look my smile of guilt. Everyone who were present would have known why)

Oh my god can we please take a moment and look at my cake? My cake was based on 3 colours- white, gold and light pink. I designed the cake and picked the flavour (Thank you Anastasia for being so ever understanding and patient with me). I wanted the design to be simple (white fondant)  yet intricate with lace details at the bottom, topping off with peonies & roses to dress up the cake.
The flavour of the cake was chocolate-  filled with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream coated with Dark Chocolate Ganache. It was deliciously beautiful inside and out. If you're interested, I ordered my cake from House of Royal Velvet , more photos here.

And of course, can't forget my uni boys. Josh needs to get a time out, honestly!

"HAHAH WAIT, WHAT ARE WE DOING"
"OK LETS DO A FUNNY ONE, FUNNY ONE!!!"

Lastly, my beautiful necklace given by my mummy.
But wow look at the details of my dress!

I have to thank:
Carys (& Wonee)  for help making the yummy punch, riking your life with the balloons and giving me ideas on setting up the party.
Emily for encouraging me and bringing the chips. CHIPS.
Stacey (and her mum) for saving my wardrobe malfunction crisis.
Serene for helping me set up and helping mum prepare the noodles.
Sean Yoong for taking the amazing amazing photos xoxo

aaaaaaaaaaaaand last but not least, Magnum for being so supportive and understanding. Without him the whole party will be a disaster!!

To end this post, here are some photos that were on my SC & Instagram

Oh I see you found Amelia, good job guys!

 My girls. Forever & Always.

Finally turned 12. No one can tell me what not to do or to do. Feels so good! YES!

Just Berlin

I will not be including Amsterdam in this post because I did not take good photos at all and there wasn't much about Amsterdam. However, I did love Amsterdam because the people were so nice, the buildings were flat and looked like they were about to fall flat on the ground, the smell of piss (weed) everywhere we went and the cute canal bridges. Oh the best maccas I have ever had in my whole entire life was in Amsterdam. The bun was clean and crisp, the fish fillet was crunchy and fresh and the lettuce in my burger was not smacked on. It was maccas on the 10th level. In addition, we went to a diamond factory (and all I thought of was getting a Rolex watch)... that is about it for Amsterdam!

So let's move onto Berlin. One word to describe it? AMAZING.

I actually had the vision of Berlin as being a run down city, but I was so wrong! The city's sooo clean, people there were nice and helpful with super good manners and not to mention our 5 star rating hotel. 5 minutes into settling down in our room, Magnum was still turning on and off lights around the room and bathroom (we had a LED UV type of light on the ceiling of the bathtub, it was magical) and said "oh my god, look at this" "WOW this is so cool!" and I just sat on the bed laughing at everything because I was knackered.

Then we had dinner at Vapiano. They actually make fresh pizza and pasta for you when you request your order at the kitchen. By fresh pasta, I mean rolling out the dough and shape it at the pasta machine and then cook it. Though we had to wait for nearly 40 minutes for our food, but it was worth it. Can we also talk about the marble and wood design of the table? Thanks.

We went to the Berlin Zoo in the morning but we did not get to see all the animals in action because they were still sleeping. However we heard Seals barking like siren across the zoo. It was so big and cute!! Not to mention I saw my brother in the zoo with a colourful butt ;)

How majestic is the entrance of Berlin Zoo?

Oh wait look it's my sisters!

We also cycled around Tiergarten and rain decided to play us. It was actually cats and dogs.

Not to mention I fell twice when I was cycling over the stoopid bridge LOL YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO LAUGH AT ME BECAUSE KARMA.

We had to cycle back to the hotel, get changed and dried ourselves up and then went shopping (bowling, actually) as we waited for the rain to calm itself. Wait did we go bowling when it was raining or what? I think we did because I remember only changing my pants BECAUSE IT PLAYED ME.

OK I TRIPPED AND FELL BECAUSE I STEPPED ON THE HEM OF MY PANTS FROM L'POUPEE AND NOW I'M LEFT WITH A MINOR SCAR FROM THE FALL THAT OCCURRED IN BERLIN TYSM I WANT TO BE INSURED TYSM.

We went cycling again, this time on the main road, taking ourselves to the Reichstag building and places.

Then we cycled to dinner and I think that is pretty much Berlin.
Me and Magnum (mostly me) wanted to go to visit the concentration camp but the day prior I had a bad feeling about it, so we went cycling instead. I knew I was right because it was pouring down.
I should have taken photos of the streets and stuff but I was too busy using my eyes looking at everything.
Berlin was amazing, definitely coming back and staying where we stayed.

Next, we're travelling to Venice and Rome!
Let's end this post with me posing with my curry sausage in Berlin Mall.

London and Paris take 2

I just realised that I posted 0 photos of us in Paris Disneyland and Thorpe park in London... but my excuse is because all the photos were taken with Magnum's phone and we did not even use much of his camera... I mean who had time for photos when we were busy riding on rides? Except Disneyland...
Get ready for my touristy photos.

London Thorpe Park

If you had me on Snapchat back before my phone drowned itself in water, you would have seen snaps of me and my friends at the park dying of heat then getting wet from rides. Soooo much fun!

I'm glad I survived this ride. I was holding onto life on the seat handle and Stacey's hand LOL

Disneyland Paris

I missed out taking photos with Abu because it was so packed :(

Uuuum come on, I HAD TO.

If you don't know where Pizza Planet Restaurant is from, you need to re-evaluate your life.
I think it was 10 Euro for all we can eat, best lunch of my life.

The story behind this sign was "OMG EMILY quick I need a photo with this sign" and then Matt saying "Oh my god Li Mei, every single time!"

Travelling with friends101

For those of you who are wondering if I survived travelling with friends, I did! FYI it was my first time travelling with friends and I definitely have learnt a lot from this trip. Prior travelling, everyone told me that once I travel with people, I can never be friends with them anymore. Let it be their personal living lifestyle or the reveal of their true identity (dirtiness, taking ages to get ready, lack of responsibility, bossiness etc etc). It wasn't the case for me (even though we had some miscommunication but it's always sorted in 10 mins...).

I know the people I'm travelling with well, I know their characteristics, I can predict what they are going to say or do in certain situations, hence the preparation of being considerate and understanding is VERY IMPORTANT.Communication is the key to survival in every aspect of life, no matter friendship or relationship. If I don't agree to something they suggested, I say it to them direct or indirectly so they get my signal. If they don't agree to something I said, they do the same to me. It is best to communicate on spot rather than sugarcoating.

You're on a trip with friends, hence you're part of the group = sharing responsibility. It helps cut down stress especially in a tensed situation. If one planned for the hotel, he/she does the registration work; if the taxi transfer is late, it is one of the group member's responsibility to chase down the transport until it arrives. E.g. one time we were so desperate to shower that we were waiting in line to ask the info desk lady where's the shower room at the airport.  I couldn't take it, the line was so long so I legit ran to the main info desk and asked where the shower room was and we got the answer. It saved everyone else waiting in line. Also, do not think that you're always the only one doing the job, because you're not. Self-centered thinking can often lead to misunderstanding.

Again, leading back to the considerate point. You're not alone, so not everything is about you. You might want to do something someone else does not want to do, or you might want to eat something that the whole group is not keen on. If they are not feeling it, it's best to drop your decision and think about it later. Worst come to worst, you can split up with them and do your own thang, or do it after they have done what they wanted to do. For example, me and Magnum wanted to go to Casa Batllou, but Matt & Stacey didn't, so we went separate ways after lunch and agreed to meet back at the apartment and get ready for dinner. It worked, and both couples were happy!

As for understanding... put yourself in that person's shoes. What happens if he/she treats you the way you treat them? You surely won't like it. Don't be an iron head and insist on something, again it's not all about you. I know that when I'm pissed or tired, I don't talk to anyone. So this is when I isolate myself from the group (I walk a few meters behind) just to avoid ruining everyone's day.
If you're an early person, don't forget there's other people under the same roof, so be quiet when you get up. Because if I'm the one banging on everything and playing my music loudly in the shower, and you're the one half asleep, man you'll hate me.
But I've had such good experiences of them being such understanding and caring people... That one time I lost my ATM card in Dubai and we were constantly looking for reception desk to ask where's the nearest Citibank branch and how we walked under the heat just to get into the shopping centre, all because of me losing my stupid card (I blamed myself so hard I nearly cried LOL).

Take care of each other. Remind each other even if its just little things. All I remember saying and hearing a lot was "Don't forget to buy water" "Anyone else want to put their passports or camera in the safe?" "Hold on to your bags guys, a crowd's coming" "Have you had your medicine? Have you applied your cream?! Have you sprayed your nasal?" and of course... "WHERE IS MY CONTACT LENS CASE??? ANYONE SEEN IT? I AM GOING TO BE BLIND" (I found it in my luggage lol...).

Oh just a quick note, always bring extra $$. Worst thing worst is to stumble upon an emergency shop that carries no eftpos machine or running out of money to buy food/water/shopping.

Last but not least, have fun & good luck! xoxo
